Administration of medications to your pet, a daily playtime and TLC, are included with your boarding rate. TLC is given by a staff member during your pet’s stay, and involves going over your pet from head to toe, noting any concerns, and of course, giving many belly rubs and ear scratches.  We believe that special care shouldn’t equal more charges! Plus, no pet, either dog or cat, or whatever your ‘pet’ may be, should be placed into an enclosure, only to sit, sad and bored.

For your pet’s comfort, we include superior bedding at Barksburgh. Your pet will receive a Kuranda bed and fleece pad, or a Primo Pad and fluffy blanket.

For clients that want to hear about your pet’s experience at Barksburgh, you will also receive a daily report card on your pet along with a photo.  We have cameras set up for clients to view their pets in their boarding environment or in the play yard, depending on the time of day.

We respectfully request that clients bring their pet’s food in pre-packaged bags to ensure that the correct amount is provided to the pet.  It also reduces the likelihood of digestive upset if the pet is able to continue to eat the regular diet received at home.  At times, when a change occurs, such as having to board your pet, they may not want to eat their meals.  We’ll ask you how you would like us to proceed. Most dogs, after 2-3 days, will decide to eat. Normally, our first response will be to add a small amount of water to your pet’s meal. If this doesn’t help, we can offer a small teaspoon of quality grain free canned food mixed in, or a small amount of dehydrated food, mixed with water, like Honest Kitchen, to entice eating. This will only be at your discretion. We want your pet to be happy and healthy here. Please let us know if your pet has any allergies to food!

All medications should be in their original container with easily read directions. If your pet takes its medications with its food, we will follow your directions. Please do not place medications in the pre-bagged meals. Supplements are the exception. You may place those in your pet’s meal, but please let us know what they are receiving, in case an emergency should arise.

If you feel that your pet requires more than what is included in the boarding rate, we offer additional playtimes, kongs stuffed with a treat of your choosing, a different special treat available for purchase or simply some snuggle time!
